Peter drove the ball well early in the round but was again not good with his irons and managed to keep himself in reasonable shape with several good par saves. A nice birdie at the last from 18 feet was important after dropping a shot at his 16th hole when a bad drive forced him to pitch out from the thick rough. It was a reasonable display on the greens but many of the one putts he had came from par saving efforts after missing the green. Peter has an afternoon tee time tomorrow and will look to an improvement in his iron play to keep him in the tournament.

An opening round of even par 70 has Peter precariously placed at the Canadian Open and he will need at least another even par round tomorrow, perhaps even better if he is to continue his run of cuts made.
