Game of two halves in Tampa

peter_australian_pga_resized_anthony_powter.jpgIf Peter had have been playing for his beloved Bulldogs rugby league team today in round two of the Transitions Championshi in Tampa he would say it was a  game of two halves.

After an opening round of 74 yesterday Peter was up against it to make the cut and when he turned in a disastrous 41 today his chances were even more forlorn. Somehow he picked himself up dusted off the clothes and got back into it.

A bogey at the 10th gave little sign of what was to come but he would birdie five of the next seven holes and although he has missed the cut he leaves Tampa feeling somewhat better about his form than was the case at the halfway mark today.

An early birdie at his second hole after an approach to 5 feet gave way to a series of dropped shots before the turn, double bogies at his 3rd and 6th holes creating too big of a task for the cut to be a realistic goal. His double bogey at the third coming after taking four to get down from just in front of the green.

The double at the 6th came after a three putt after first missing the fairway right with his tee shot.

The last eight holes however were like chalk and cheese compared to his opening ten, a lengthy birdie putt at the 11th  kick starting him into gear.

Peter will now head home to Orlando to prepare for this coming week's Arnold Palmer Championship.
