It was a tough old day at the office on day one of the MFS Australian Open but at the end of it all Peter will feel it was a good day's work as he completed his first round in closing darkness with a one under par 71.

A dropped shot at the last and a missed opportunity at the 16th were perhaps disappointing but for Peter there was a lot to like about a round that he ground out in the most difficult of conditions. "I really smoked by drive at the 16th and had just a four iron in there but caught the trap under the lip. I had to take a bit of the lip with it as it was so much under it. I then missed a tricky five footer at the last but overall I am happy with the round," said Peter later.

Peter has a 9.10am tee time on day two with improved weather conditions expected.
