An opening round of 65 at the Viking Classic at the Annandale Golf club in Madison in Mississippi has given Peter a share of the lead in his first PGA Tour event since November of 2009.

Peter played early on day one but took full advantage. He birdied the first from 20 feet and although he made a blunder at his second hole of the day when he took four to get down from 100 yards at the par five he made the turn in 32 and added three more birdies on his way home.

He finished his round off in style with two great approach shots at the 8th and 9th holes of the Annandale layout and heads into tomorrow's second round with growing confidence, especially in his putting which was particularly good today.

"I played ok but really didn't take advantage of the par 5s," said Peter a few hours after his round. "It is incredibly hot here this week and there is a long way to go but it's nice to be in this spot after the first round."
