Birdies at the opening two holes were followed by other very makeable but missed chances at the 3rd and 5th holes before his third birdie of the day at the 8th after his approach was all but holed. At the par five 9th, Peter recorded what could only be described as a soft bogey from the middle of the fairway when he three putted to make the turn in two under 33 but at the 10th he was back on track with a 20 foot birdie putt to be back at three under for the day and seven under for the tournament. At that point Peter was very much in contention but a missed opportunity at the par five 11th semed to set the bogey train in motion. He missed the green at the 12th and made the first of four bogeys over a seven hole stretch. At the 13th he three putted from long range but at the 14th he had an outside chance for birdie which he missed. He made a birdie at the par five 15th before missing the fairways at both the 16th and 17th holes and bogeys were the result. At four under, Peter is just a low round away from a good finish but the problem for him is that there are so many players between he and the leader Vijay Singh.

Peter made a great start to his third round at the Cialis Western Open, not only on his scorecard but in the manner in which he was playing.
