Holed bunker shot important for Peter

Peter will return to the TPC River Highlands course early on Saturday morning facing a seven foot putt for birdie but only needing a two putt par to get through to the final 36 holes. Play was called off at 6.00pm after players had initially been halted for stormy weather at 4.00pm

Peter had opened with a three under par 67 on day one but after missing the green at his 5th hole (the 14th) he failed to get up and down and was behind the eight ball in terms of the cut mark of three under. He regained that shot with a birdie from 5 feet at his 8th hole but bogies at his 10th and 14th holes again had him struggling. Then came the shot that changed his prospects for the week.

At the lengthy par three 5th hole (his 14th) Peter found the greenside bunker but holed from there for birdie and then added another when he hit a tee shot from 200 yards at the 8th to 5 feet and was again inside the cutline.

Needing a par at the last to ensure being around for the weekend, Peter found the fairway and hit his approach to seven feet. He needs only a two putt par to be required later in the day.
