After an early par save from ten feet at the first , Peter's putter, which had been his friend for much of the week, let him down. His only birdie came at the par five fifth but although he created a few chances he was unable to convert.
Peter
now has a week off in Ireland where he will join his good mate Jimmy
Barnes on his tour of Ireland before heading back to the US to prepare
for the USPGA Championship at Medinah.

After staying on the edge of contention for a top five finish
throughout much of the last day, Peter has dropped shots at both the
17th and 18th holes in the final round of the Open Championship. He has
finished in a share of 16th, one of his better finishes in a major but
this was definitely a chance to secure his first top ten and better.
