Peter dropped three shots in the last two holes of his second round at the MFS Australian Open and as a result went from equal third to 13th. The mishap proved costly but still leaves him within touch of contention.

Peter made his first birdie of the day at the par five 16th (his 7th hole) after two great shots finished just through the back of the green and he pitched to three feet. He then bogeyed the demanding 17th before making the turn in even par 36. 

Then began a roller coaster ride over the back nine which included three bogeys, a double bogey and three birdies. The nett result was a disappointing 75 but at two over Peter is just three shots out of third place and by no means out of contention.

The conditions for the final two rounds round are expected to be even better than the much improved second day conditions and Peter will need to build forward momentum if he is to challenge for the title.
