Peter was in reasonably good shape in the event at two under for both his round and the tournament through eleven holes of his round today but dropped four shots in three holes to eventually finish at two over par and missed the cut by one. Peter opened his round with a putt of 15 feet for birdie at the first and despite a bogey at his third hole he made the turn in two under. On the tough 'Tournament' Course at Redstone Golf Club he was within striking distance of the leaders at that point but then came a series of dropped shots. A poor second to his 12th hole saw one shot dropped, a three putt at the par five 4th (his 13th) saw another slip away and then at the 5th he pulled his tee shot into the water and took double bogey. Peter had a great chance at the par five 8th (his second last hole) to secure the one further birdie he would need to sneak back inside the cut line but missed from 7 feet and he missed the weekend by one. It was not such a bad week of ball striking but once again the putter let him down at crucial times.
Peter will now have this coming week of the Masters off before heading to the Verizon Heritage Classic at Hilton Head the following week. It will be the first time in four years that Peter has missed qualifying for Augusta.
