Peter's game improved markedly in round two of the Barclays Classic at the Westchester Country Club and his four under par round of 67 has moved him from his overnight position of 93rd to 29th. Begining his round at the 10th hole today, Peter started the day slowly with seven straight pars before his first birdie at the 17th (his eighth hole). There he hit his approach to three feet and holed it but at the reachable par five 18th he missed the fairway from the tee and had no option but to lay up. As he made the turn he was at one over for the tournament and that appeared as if it was likely to be the cut mark. In one of his better nine holes of golf this year however, Peter played the back nine holes in three under but it was not only his score that was impressive but that he gave himself so many chances that was so encouraging. He missed chances from 13, 6, 12, 9 and 5 feet over the closing nine holes but made birdies from 4ft at the 2nd, a two putt birdie at the par five 5th and from 8 feet at the 7th. The leaders are at eight under six shots ahead of Peter. photo by Marc Feldman WireImage.com |
