In the leadup to this week's Justin Timberlake Shriners Childrens Hospital Championship at the TPC Summerlin near Las Vegas, Peter has expressed satisfaction at the ongoing progress he has made during his week off last week in Orlando.
"Obviously I am now in a position where I need the momentum built at the event at Turning Stone to continue but last week was productive and I felt good about the way the practice went. There is no hiding the fact that I need something special over the next few weeks but I am happy enough with the way my game feels right now."
Peter's final round of 63 at the Turning Stone Resort was a huge boost for him after what has been a year of struggle. He has this week and three more events to earn the US$475,000 or so he is likely to need to retain his current full PGA Tour status.
Peter played this event for the first occasion last year and made the cut after a good start but eventually finished 58th.
Peter produces best golf of year

It finally all came together for Peter in the final round of the
Turning Stone Resort Championship, a nine under par 63 rushing him up
the leaderboard into a share of 12th position. He had started the last
round in 49th position.
"Sunday was an enjoyable day for a
change," said Peter on Tuesday. "Funnily enough I played pretty well
all week but just couldn't seem to
keep it going."
The best part was that each day I felt like I shot the worse I
could. Finally on Sunday it all came together. Of course I holed a few putts but
there was no massive putts. I just hit it well and the two greens I missed I got
them up and down. -something I haven't been doing. At the end of the day it gives me hope I can pull
something special out of the hat the next few weeks. I will have a big practice week before we are off to Vegas."
Throughout this week Peter's long
game stats have been outstanding and Sunday was no exception as he hit
all but one of the 14 fairways, in fact Peter hit 49 of the 54 fairways
all week. He also hit 61 of 72 greens for the week but importantly on
day four he manged to make several putts and a course record round of
63 was the result.
That the course was played under lift clean and place
rules for most of the week will mean that the course record will not
count but the round will provide Peter with a lot of confidence heading
into Justin Timberlake's event in two weeks time in Las Vegas.
Eight birdies in his first twelve holes today had
Peter on the verge of something even more special. While he continued
to hit most greens over the closing few holes he did not kncok it as
close as he had been although one last birdie at the 18th came from a
good approach to 7 feet.
Peter should earn around US$126,000 although the
final prizemoney list has not been completed due to the playoff
carrying over until Monday.
Peter will now have an enforced week off while the
Presidents Cup is played before returning to play the Justin Timberlake
tournament in Las Vegas in ten days time.
Peter makes cut at Turning Stone

Courtesy of some impressive tee to green play over the opening two days of the Turning Stone Resort Championship in Verona, New York, Peter has made the cut in his first tournament start for nearly six weeks.
Although his putting did not live up to the quality of his driving and iron play, Peter has the chance over the weekend to improve on that aspect of his game as he looks to sharpen his scoring for the weeks ahead.
Peter missed only one fairway in his opening two rounds and today added a second round of 72 to go with his solid start yesterday when he recorded a round of 70 in the damp and cool conditions.
Two late bogies today put the dampener on what might have been an even better start to the event. The first of those came when three putting the par three 6th hole and the latter when finding the bunker after a poor layup at the par five 8th (his 17th hole of the day).
At 2 under Peter trails the leader, Vaughn Taylor by eight shots.

Peter is in Vernon New York for this week's Turning Stone Resort Championship, his first event since the Wyndham Championship in late August. Peter has spent time at his home in Orlando and, although bothered by a flu bug at present ,he is happy with the way his game has been going as he prepares for five important events.
Peter is currently scheduled to play all five events as he attempts to regain his status for the PGA Tour. With just US$188,000 in earning this season he needs a big finish to the year if he is regain his full status although he would still be eligible for some starts in 2010 via other criteria. Ideally however the retention of full status is the most important position he can achieve and if at worst that involved a return to Tour School then so be it.
"The weather is cold and windy here at Turning Stone," said Peter on Tuesday evening US time. "I spent last week in bed with the flu but prior to that was pleased with the progress I was making. I still feel a bit wonky but will hopefully get through it ok."
Peter has a late tee time on day one when he will play with Bill Haas and Webb Simpson.

After a two week break away from golf altogether, Peter is back working on his game as he prepares for the all important Fall Series of events which begins on October 1st at the Turning Stone Resort event in New York State.
"It has been good to have had a clean break and the enforced month off has allowed me to do that," said Peter from Florida today. "I am beginning work again today actually and have two weeks to get prepared for the last five events."
