Peter in Reno
Written by Bruce Young

Peter plays the Legends Reno Tahoe Open this week as he continues to look for that big week to get him back on track. This will be just the second occasion Peter has played the event at the Jack Nicklaus designed Montreux Golf and Country Club in Reno, Nevada.

Peter first played the event in 2001 when not a member of the PGA Tour and has typically been playing the World Golf Championship event this week since. Having not qualified for the event in Ohio, he is here this week to get things moving in the right direction.

2009_john_deere_classic_-_m_cohen.jpgPeter has struggled at the Buick Open and has missed the cut by a wide margin. On a golf course where low scoring is very much the order of the week, consecutive rounds of 72 were never going to be enough.

Peter will now play in next week's Reno Tahoe Open.

2009_john_deer_classic_-_rd_2_-_m__cohen.jpgIt's the Buick Open in Grand Blanc Michigan this week for Peter and with the just a couple of weeks left after this week prior to the Fed Ex Cup playoffs it is important that he puts a few good weeks together. Peter will still have the opportunity to play the five events after the Playoffs but this is a good week to get things headed in the right direction.

Peter has played this event on two previous occasions missing the cut in 2007 but finishing 48th last year.

The Warwick Hills Golf Club is an old fashion style golf course which should in theory suit Peter's game. After perhaps surprisingly missing the cut last week, this week offers a good opportunity to not only bounce back but to make some progress on the money list.

"I have not changed much for this week, said Peter on Wednesday evening. "I hope I can get off to a better start this week. I just put myself under too much pressure and couldn't come through in the second round. I went close though. My driving let me down.

"I like this course however and if it firms up it will be even better."

"This is a big week with Tiger here and the locals are pumped that's for sure."

Peter has an early tee time on day one when at 7.18 he will play with Jason Bohn and Patrick Sheehan.

Peter misses out in Canada despite hole in one
Written by Bruce Young
Sunday, 26 July 2009

Forced to play the rain delayed second round of the Canadian Open on Saturday, Peter was unable to make sufficient ground to force his way inside the cutline.

Following his opening round of 73 on Thursday which was highlighted by a hole in one at the par three 12th, Peter fought his way back in round two and through ten holes had moved within one of the likely cutline.

At about that time things began to unravel with three bogies in four holes and despite a bogey at the last he had missed by three shots.

Peter will now head for Grand Blanc in Michigan where he will play next week's Buick Open.

Peter plays Glen Abbey for first time

Peter plays his fourth Canadian Open this week when he tees it up at the Jack Nicklaus designed Glen Abbey Golf Club in Mississaugua near Toronto.

After a disppointing third round had seen him miss the last day in Milwaukee last week under the MDF rule, Peter looks to continue the progress he has made in recent weeks, a run that has seen him make his last five cuts. Given his earlier form this season it is a significant turnaround. His task now is to step it up another level in the search for a big finish.

"I haven't played Glen Abbey before although it looks really nice," said Peter on Tuesday evening. "I arrived tonight and will play the pro am tomorrow. Overall I am pretty happy with the way things have been going. I have had my chipping back for two weeks and it is only improving. Last week put a softer shaft in my driver and I thought it went well. I got the ball in the air quicker and  it definitely went further."

I am looking forward to the next 3 weeks.

Peter has an 8.20 tee time on day one when he will play with Mathias Gronberg and Webb Simpson.
