Peter has added a two under par round of 69 to his opening 67 to be at 6 under and at the halfway mark of the John Deere Classic in Silvis, Illinois he finds himself in 22nd position. While seven shots from the 36 hole lead of Darron Stiles he is not that far from contention, especially given the 36 holes that he and the rest of the field will be required to play tomorrow.
Peter began the day with a bogey when he missed the green at the 10th hole but bounced back with a superb approach at the 11th. At even par for the day and 4 under for the tournament as he made the turn he needed to play the final nine in even par or better is he was to make the reduced cutline of 4 under. Only the leading 60 players and ties would make the weekend to accomodate the 36 holes on Sunday.
The two birdies on his back nine would come with a two putt birdie after a fine second at the par five second hole and then a great tee shot at the par three 7th.
It was another good day to and from the fairways but the putting misbehaved a little.
Peter plays John Deere for third occasion

Peter plays the John Deere Classic this week for just the third occasion looking to improve what has been an ordinary record at this venue. Peter has missed the cut in both times to the event but with evidence of improvement for him in recent weeks, this week offers an opportunity for that to continue.
Peter has started the event well in each of the last two years but a poor second round has cost him the chance of advancing further. It is important that Peter takes advantage of weeks such as this and next week in Milwaukee where many of the PGA Tour stars are either In Europe or preparing to go there to advance his cause in terms of money list aspirations.
This week's TPC Deere Run is a D.A Weibring designed golf course where lots of birdies and low scoring is often the norm. A putting improvement will be necessary to contend but a continuation of his recent progress will also be important as he looks to the weeks ahead.
Peter has a 12.09 tee time on day one when he will play with Garrett Willis and US Open hero Ricky Barnes.
Peter falters after good start at AT&T

After what had been a good start to the AT&T National event at the Congressional Country Club, Peter played the wekend in 5 over par and has finished in a share of 54th.
Peter lost his way in the middle of round three reeling off six consecutive bogies between the 6th and 11th holes, three of those from three putts, before bouncing back with four birdies in his last seven. That lost him ground on day three and as a result he was out in the groups from the 10th tee today.
Peter bogeyed his first hole of round four when he failed to get up and down from behind the green and then bogeyed the par five 16th and the par four 17th before making the turn in three over 38. On the way in he hit every green but could not convert any for birdie and he finished with 75.
Peter now heads to Slivis in Illinois for this week's John Deere Classic with some positive thoughts to come out of the week.
Progress continues at Congressional

Peter is tied for 39th at the halfway mark at the AT&T National event in Maryland adding a second consecutive round of 70 to be at even par.
Birdies at his final two holes on day one made today's task a litle easier but as Peter headed out with an afternoon tee time, he still needed a good solid round on the quality Congressional Country Club layout if he was to be around for the weekend . A three putt bogey at his opening hole today was clearly not the way he wanted to start but he would make up for it at the third with a monster putt for birdie from 60 feet.
He then holed another lengthy putt for birdie at the 5th after finding the left rough but a bogey at the converted par five 6th after missing the green left had him back to even par for the day. A missed short putt at the 12th led to a bogey and he was dangerously close to the cutline but a birdie at the uphill par four 15th from 25 feet had him back at even par.
Peter was unable to birdie the par five 16th but he safely parred the final two holes to be comfortably inside the cut mark of 2 over.
Congressional Country Club holds good memories

Peter is in Maryland this week for the AT&T National event at the famed Congressional Country Club near Washington DC after a slight change of fortunes in recent weeks. After what has been tough start to the season, Peter played well last week in Hartford and his stats prove that his long game is finally coming around..
"I was pretty happy last week. I gave myself a lot of
opportunities and hit many good putts that just didn't fall. Hopefully we are just around the corner from a really good week. The course this week is in perfect condition except the
fairways are very soft which in a perfect world I would prefer to be dry. As usual I have put some serious hours into the chipping
side of my game and I believe it is the final piece of the puzzle. Fingers crossed I can keep building on the last few
weeks."
Peter has fond memories of Congressional Country Club as it was here twelve months ago that he produced a course record equalling final round of 63.
Peter will tee it up at 8.50am with Corey Pavin and Jason Bohn
