After being forced to complete his second round of the St Jude Classic on Saturday morning, Peter has added a third round of 70 and at the completion of 54 holes is at 1 under and in 54th position.

Peter has one hole to complete in his second round when play was called on Friday. On his return at 7.00am on Saturday morning he needed to negotiate the hole safely to be assured of making the cut and he was able to do that despite it being the toughest hole on the golf course. The par there saw him finish two shots inside the cutline.

Although he is not contending for the title, that he was able to make his first cut in his last six starts suggests improvement for Peter.   

Peter has missed out on a start at the US Open when he finished well back in the 36 hole qualifying staged in Columbus, Ohio overnight.

After a first round of 76 at the Brookside Course had virtually eliminated any chance he might have had, Peter improved significantly in his afternoon round with a three under 69 at the Lakes Course but not enough to threaten one of the 16 or so places available at next week's US Open at Bethpage.

It was frustrating for Peter as it was at Bethpage where Peter recorded his best finish in a major championship and he was keen to get back to a golf course he particularly enjoyed.

Peter will now head south to Memphis for this week's St Jude Classic as he looks to get his game moving forward. 

Facing an almost impossible task to make the cut after his opening round of 77 on day one of the Memorial Tournament, Peter again struggled on day two and he has missed the cut by five shots.

 Peter reached the turn in even par today but he immediately bogeyed the long par four 10th after finding the rough from the tee, then bogeyed the par three12th after missing the green. To add insult to injury he bogeyed the final two holes for a round of 76.

Peter will now head south to Memphis to play the St Jude Classic although he is currently entered to play the US Open qualifying on Monday.

Peter plays another of his favourite courses this week when he tees it up at the Memorial Tournament at Muirfield Village in Columbus, Ohio.

Peter is looking for the motivation to turn his season a round and perhaps a trip to a course that was a key catalyst in his decision to play the USPGA Tour might just assist.

"The course is magnificent this week with lightning fast greens and every else in perfect order," said Peter today. "It has been very disappointing to date in 2009. I was hoping the new contacts might have improved things in terms of my vision and in time they will have benefit but the only thing they have helped with so far is finding my ball in the rough," added Peter jokingly.

Peter has made seven of his eight cuts at this venue and hopefully this week will see a continuation of his liking for the Jack Nickalus designed layout.
