Peter has scraped through to the weekend at the Wyndham Championship after a closing nine of two under 34 and a round of 69 saw him make the cut on the mark.
A five foot par saving putt at the last was all important in this low scoring event with the cut falling at five under. Peter is just seven shots from the three way tie for the lead but he is in 66th place.
It was a good day from tee to green for Peter but his putting let him down on several occasions. His two birdies on the front nine were the result of two putt birdies, but he did make a good par save at the 16th before a bogey from the bunker at the 17th saw him make the turn in one under 35.
Peter needed an under par back nine to be around for the weekend and he was able to do so. The shot of the day for him was his second to his 11th hole from 260 yards to 10 feet. Almost symptomatic of the day he missed his eagle attempt but made birdie. He then birdied his 14th hole after hitting his approach to five feet and he then needed to par in to be assured of a place in the weekend field.
Peter missed a good chance at his 17th hole before struggling to a par at the last.

Peter is in Greensboro, North Carolina, this week for the Wyndham Championship. Peter has made the cut in each of the three occasions he has played the Ellis Maples designed Forest Oaks layout and arrives in Greensboro off the back of a fourth placed finish at the Bridgestone Invitational two weeks ago.
Peter was ineligible for the PGA Championship and spent last week at home in Orlando playing quite a bit of golf in addition to practising.
Peter finished 22nd at the then Chrysler Classic of Greensboro in 2003, his best finish in the event.
Peter is looking to continue his improved form shown at the Firestone Country Club. With just one event remaining before next week's The Barclays in New York, Peter is guaranteed a place at that event and providing he makes the cut he will more than likely start in the following week's Deutsche Bank Championship.
Peter has an early start on day one when he will play with Chris Couch and Brad Faxon.

Peter has recorded somwewhat of a surprise week at
the WGC Bridgestone Invitational when he finished in a share of 4th
place after a final round of 68 moved him ten places from his overnight
14th.
Peter only recently discovered he had a
start in this event, his 2005 Presidents Cup team membership providing
the chance for inclusion in this elite field. After a two week break
Peter was a little unsure of what to expect this week but his
performance against such a strong field and on such a tough golf course
is very encouraging.
"I felt as if I was playing ok despite the two week break and knew if I was able to tighten up my short game a little then I could do ok but it was still a pleasing week . I was pleased with the way the short putter worked and while it I was occasionaly twitchy with it, it can hopefully only get better. I holed a tricky five footer at the last which I knew was important given the money we were playing for and it was very satsfyiing to see it go in. I probably didn't play as well today as earlier in the week but made several really good par saves."
Peter earns US$310,000 for
his week's work and moves to US$1.2 million for the season. He has also
made a significant move in Fed Ex Cup standings moving from 84th to
65th and increasing the likelihood of playing the latter stages of that
event.
Unfortunately for Peter his performance
will have no impact on his chances of playing the PGA Championship next
week in Tulsa as by the time entries closed he was still ineligible for
a start. It will be the the first time Peter has not played the PGA
since 2001. Peter will play next at the Wyndham Championship next week.
Peter recovered from a slow start
today when he recorded two bogies in his first three holes to steadily
move through the field. He birdied the second hole after getting up and
down from the left hand greenside bunker at the par five. Peter made
good par saves at the 5th and 6th holes before birdies from 20 and 35
feet respectively at the 7th and 8th holes saw him turn in 34.
On
the way in Peter hit every green but one on the back nine but had very
few makeable chances, the only realistic chance coming at the 15th which
he made from ten feet.

Peter has recorded a second consecutive round of 70 at the WGC Bridgestone Invitational at Firestone Country Club in Akron Ohio and at even par he is 9th place and six behind the 36 hole leader, Rory Sabbatini.
Peter only gained a start in the event as a result of his inclusion in the 2005 Presidents Cup Team (current Ryder and Presidents Cup team members are eligible to play) but he is making the most of his opportunity.
Peter struggled a little early in his round making one of two good par saves but dropping shots when he missed the green at his 4th hole then three putting from the back of the green at the 17th. His first birdie came at his 12th ( the 3rd) when he holed from ten feet and then again at the 5th when he holed from 23 feet for his second and last birdie of the day.

Peter is playing this week's World Golf Championship Bridgestone Championship at Firestone Country Club in Ohio, his first event in his forties.
As a member of the 2005 Presidents Cup side, Peter gets the
chance to play this event for the 6th consecutive year, his best finish
being when 19th in 2002.
"The course appears to be playing much
longer this year," said Peter from Akron. "They have added length but
the course is a bit softer so far as well."
Peter is back playing
after a two week break during which he celebrated his 40th birthday on
July 17th. "I spent a week away from the game after the John Deere and
then started to get back into it last week. I spent a lot of time on
the practice fairway last week and played a couple of times."
"I
actually played quite well at the John Deere Classic even though I
missed the cut and will again this week use the short putter - the
Rife. I felt like I putted quite well with it at the John Deere but
didn't make many."
Peter will play this week then at this stage
does not have a start at the PGA Championship but will then play the
Wyndham Championship, then at The Barclays at Westchester before
hopefully a start at the Deutsche Bank Championship although that wil
be based on his Fed Ex Cup points at the time.
