Peter has made the weekend for the tenth time in his last eleven starts at this week's Bell Canadian Open and although he has finished his first thirty six holes right on the cut line, he is within just seven shots of the lead on what is a very congested leaderboard.
Playing late in the day in breezy conditions and with the golf course beginning to firm up once again after rain early in the week, Peter made a good start when he reached the turn in two under 33, courtesy of two putt birdie at the 4th and a 15 foot birdie putt at the 9th. Bogeys at the 14th after finding the right rough then getting a flyer from there and at the 18th after a pulled tee shot saw him finish at even par for the day and for the tournament.
Two good finishing rounds could well see Peter right back into contention but he will need to captalise on the chances that come his way on this increasingly difficult golf course.

An opening round of even par 70 has Peter precariously placed at the Canadian Open and he will need at least another even par round tomorrow, perhaps even better if he is to continue his run of cuts made.
Peter drove the ball well early in the round but was again not good with his irons and managed to keep himself in reasonable shape with several good par saves. A nice birdie at the last from 18 feet was important after dropping a shot at his 16th hole when a bad drive forced him to pitch out from the thick rough.
It was a reasonable display on the greens but many of the one putts he had came from par saving efforts after missing the green.
Peter has an afternoon tee time tomorrow and will look to an improvement in his iron play to keep him in the tournament.

As Peter prepared for this week's Bell Canadian Open he talked about the demanding golf course the field would face this week.
"I played here three years ago and it might be that it played even a little tougher then as it was fast and firm. This year however it is very soft from recent rain but that will mean that if you miss these fairways the rough will be long and thick and make reaching the greens tough."
"I actually drove the ball alright last week but other areas of my game were not so good and while I obviously made the cut I still have a fair bit of work to do."
Peter finished 14th at the Canadian Open the last time he played at this course in 2003. His last round of 67 that year saw him make up a lot of ground on the final day.
Peter plays early on day one when he will again be paired with Vijay Singh and also Mark Calcavecchia. Peter played with Singh in the opening rounds last week.

A week that had started so well with a first round of 68 for Peter at the Deutsche Bank Championship in Boston, ended poorly when he added a final round of 76 to finish well back in the field.
An early birdie gave promise of better things to come after weekend rounds of 77 and 75 but after making the turn in one under 35 today, Peter's round came unstuck and he struggled to the finish in 41 for a final round 76.
The only plus Peter was able to take from the week was a better driving display in terms of accuracy but it was a poor week with his irons and he will need some work on that prior to this week's Canadian Open

On a cool and windy day at the TPC of Boston, Peter has struggled in round two of the Deutsche Bank Championship and now finds himself well off the pace after a round of 75.
Three putt bogies at the 5th and 9th holes and a bogey at the par three 8th saw him turn in three over and when he added more bogies at the 13th, after a poor drive, and the 14th, he had slipped to two over for the tournament and in danger of missing the cut which would eventually fall at three over.
A birdie at the par four 17th after a second to eight feet solved that problem.
At one over and in 32nd position, Peter is just five shots out of third place so there is still an opportunity on this tough and demanding golf course to move back into contention over the final two rounds
