With genuine signs of improvement coming in the final round of last week's Arnold Palmer Championship, Peter is in Houston this week for the Shell Houston Open at the Tournament Course at the Redstone Golf Club.
Peter has played this relatively new venue on only two occasions and has missed the cut both times so with a week off next week while the Masters is played he will be keen to have his game continuing its forward momentum prior to taking a break. Of course a win this week would change all that as this week's winner gets a start next week.
Peter however would be pleased just for his game to be moving in the right direction and with an early (7.30am) tee time on day one then he has the chance to make a good start to the event.

A round of 68 at the Arnold Palmer Invitational was a significant improvement for Peter on the final day of the event at Bay Hill and as he heads to next week's Shell Houtson Open he has something more positive to work on than was the case 24 hours earlier.
A third round of 77 cost Peter any chance of a solid week but today he quickly moved to three under through six holes before pulling his approach to the par four 16th and finding water. He took double bogey there but regained one of those shots with a fine tee shot at the par four 2nd (his 11th) and holed from 13 feet. He dropped another shot when he missed the 4th green but at his final hole of the week (the 9th) he hit an excellent approach from 215 yards to 15 feet and holed for one final birdie.
Peter has played this coming week's Shell Houston Open only twice, missing the cut on both occasions but with an imporved effort behind him today there is light at the end of what has been a dark tunnel to date in 2009.

After struggling to the turn in three over 38 today at the Arnold Palmer Invitational, Peter's hopes of making the weekend in the event close to his home in Orlando seemed slim.
The cut at that point appeared as if it would fall around 4 over and with the momentum going all the wrong way his chances of halting his run of missed cuts appeared to be waning. Two double bogies in his opening nine holes had not helped his cause but birdies at his 12th and 13th holes had him back on track and despite a bogey at the 17th he had done enough to secure weekend work.
The doubles came at the 4th where he found the front right bunker and took four to get down and at the 9th where he pulled his approach and again took four to get down after short siding himself. He then birdied the 12th after holing a lengthy putt and then he holed from just off the green at the 13th.
He held his breath at the final hole when his approach only just cleared the water but he was able to make par and at 4 over he has made the cut by two.

Peter plays the Arnold Palmer Championship this week near his home in Orlando looking to turn around what has been the worst start of his PGA Tour career. With only two cuts made in eight starts this season the need to get things back on track is obvious.
Peter has played this event on seven previous occasions making the cut in four of those with a best of 14th in 2002.
Peter has an early tee time on day one when he will play with Corey Pavin and Ted Purdy

Game of two halves in Tampa |

If Peter had have been playing for his beloved Bulldogs rugby league team today in round two of the Transitions Championshi in Tampa he would say it was a game of two halves.
After an opening round of 74 yesterday Peter was up against it to make the cut and when he turned in a disastrous 41 today his chances were even more forlorn. Somehow he picked himself up dusted off the clothes and got back into it.
A bogey at the 10th gave little sign of what was to come but he would birdie five of the next seven holes and although he has missed the cut he leaves Tampa feeling somewhat better about his form than was the case at the halfway mark today.
An early birdie at his second hole after an approach to 5 feet gave way to a series of dropped shots before the turn, double bogies at his 3rd and 6th holes creating too big of a task for the cut to be a realistic goal. His double bogey at the third coming after taking four to get down from just in front of the green.
The double at the 6th came after a three putt after first missing the fairway right with his tee shot.
The last eight holes however were like chalk and cheese compared to his opening ten, a lengthy birdie putt at the 11th kick starting him into gear.
Peter will now head home to Orlando to prepare for this coming week's Arnold Palmer Championship.
