Peter still secures a cheque for the week but unfortunately will miss his one last chance for a great final round to perhaps sneak inside the top 70 who will move forward to next week's BMW Championship in St Louis. Peter was in 76th position on the FedEx table when his third round finished. Peter started his third round in a very ordinary fashion, in fact through 14 holes he was 4 over for the day and going nowhere but back to his home in Orlando. A birdie at the 15th was followed by another at the par five last but he had not done enough. Peter will take US$70,000 in Fed Ex Cup bonuses away from the event in addition to whatever tournament prizemoney he earns. Peter will take the next three to four weeks off and is unlikely to return to tournament play until the Turning Stone Resort Championship in early October.

Peter has bowed out of both the Deutsche Bank
Championship and the Fed Ex Cup playoffs after a third round of 73 left
him just one shot outside the score required to play the final round.
Peter fell victim to the new MDF rule on the PGA Tour, introduced to
reduce final day numbers to a managable level in order to streamline
play. In essence it means that Peter made the cut but does not get to finish all 72 holes.
