Birdies at the first and third sandwiched a bogey at the second but unlike the first two days, Peter had made the good start so important on this golf course. He added three more birdies to finish at eight under and in a share of tenth place. As Peter entered the back nine on Friday he stood at two over par for the tournament and his chance of making the weekend was all but gone. Twenty seven holes later he is at eight under and has an outside chance of challenging for the British Open title. It has been quite a comeback. Peter's previous best finish is a major was in 2002 when 11th at the US Open at Bethpage. Tomorrow he has a chance to better that and maybe even better. Peter has 1.30 tee time on day four when he tees it up with England's Greg Owen

A third round of four under par 68 at the Open Championship at Hoylake has seen Peter move within five shots of Tiger Wood's lead and into the top ten.
