As Peter prepared to head out for dinner on Tuesday evening, he reflected back on the last few days and assessed his preparation for Augusta National starting on Thursday.
"After missing the cut in Houston, where I actually didn't play as bad as the scoring might suggest, I headed back to Orlando for three days. I actually felt I hit the ball ok last week but short sided myself at the wrong time and generally didn't putt all that well. Overall however, despite my missed cut, I wasn't too upset with the week. I think my perspective changed a little after making the field for Augusta the previous Sunday and I was probably thinking about the things I needed to do to get organised for Augusta more than I should have."
"Back in Orlando there was a fair amount of rain so I didn't get the chance to practice a lot although I was able to do some work on my short game. I left to come up here to Augusta on Monday and we are staying at the same house I have rented previously which has worked out well especially given that I was late getting into the event and there was a chance it wouldn't be available."
"I walked 9 holes on Monday afternoon, then today (Tuesday) I played the front 9 in the afternoon on my own and really enjoyed being able to take some time and putted from many different angles on each green and felt like I was able to take a lot more in than perhaps I have previously. You need to see and experience the breaks on these greens to believe them so by being able to spend more time on them today it has helped."
"The weather has been pretty cold here but tomorrow I will play early and play only the back 9 and then will do some chipping and putting practice before the Par Three contest tomorrow afternoon."
"I have thrown in the 5 wood this week and dropped the 2 iron as there are several holes where the 5 wood will come in handy such as the par three 4th and even the par five second as in my landing area it is downhill a little and today I struggled to get the 3 wood airborne. That is the only equipment change however."
This is Peter's fourth visit to Augusta but having not yet made a cut he is keen to have a much better week this week.
Peter will play with previous winner Larry Mize and Hunter Mahan in round one and has an early then late combination with his tee times on the opening two days
