Peter was the only player in the afternoon field on day one of the Cadbury Schweppes PGA Championship at Hyatt Regency Coolum to challenge the early lead set by West Australian Michael Sim and at the completion of day one proceedings he finds himself one behind the leader.

After racing to the turn in 31 with birdies at the 7th, 8th and 9th, Peter missed an opportunity at the 11th and 12th for birdie but recovered with a fine shot to five feet at the dangerous 14th to move within one of the lead. Despite producing several good shots in the closing stages Peter was unable to gain the extra birdie he was chasing but he was happy with his day. "When I headed out this afternoon I felt that a round of three of four under would be good especially if the breezes got up but even they did not I was really happy with the way I played and scored." 

It's early to bed tonight for Peter as he tees it up at 7.35 tomorrow looking to take advantage of the early conditions.
