For the first time in six years, Peter will not get to play the US Open in 2006, having  missed out at final qualifying in Columbus today.

After an opening round of even par 72, Peter knew he had a lot of work to do if he  was to have any chance of contending for one of the 21 places available at the  Brookside Golf & Country Club. His second round of 69 got him to three under but he needed to go one lower if he was to join those who would play off for the one final place available to those on four under.

Peter now heads for the Barclays Classic at the Westchester Country Club in Rye, north of New York City, a venue where he has played well previously. He finished 9th there in his first time at the event and has played well there on other occasions.
