It finally all came together for Peter in the final round of the Turning Stone Resort Championship, a nine under par 63 rushing him up the leaderboard into a share of 12th position. He had started the last round in 49th position. "Sunday was an enjoyable day for a change," said Peter on Tuesday. "Funnily enough I played pretty well all week but just couldn't seem to keep it going." The best part was that each day I felt like I shot the worse I could. Finally on Sunday it all came together. Of course I holed a few putts but there was no massive putts. I just hit it well and the two greens I missed I got them up and down. -something I haven't been doing. At the end of the day it gives me hope I can pull something special out of the hat the next few weeks. I will have a big practice week before we are off to Vegas."
Throughout this week Peter's long
game stats have been outstanding and Sunday was no exception as he hit
all but one of the 14 fairways, in fact Peter hit 49 of the 54 fairways
all week. He also hit 61 of 72 greens for the week but importantly on
day four he manged to make several putts and a course record round of
63 was the result. Eight birdies in his first twelve holes today had Peter on the verge of something even more special. While he continued to hit most greens over the closing few holes he did not kncok it as close as he had been although one last birdie at the 18th came from a good approach to 7 feet. Peter should earn around US$126,000 although the final prizemoney list has not been completed due to the playoff carrying over until Monday. Peter will now have an enforced week off while the Presidents Cup is played before returning to play the Justin Timberlake tournament in Las Vegas in ten days time.
