At five under par Peter finds himself in 28th place and although some eight shots from the 36 hole leader, Jeff Quinney, four birdies in his last six holes have given him some hope, with a strong weekend, to move into contention. A bogey at the 9th, after finding the fairway then greenside bunker saw Peter turn in one under but he bounced back with a birdie at the 10th to be at two under for the day and four under for the tournament as he walked to the tee at the dangerous par four 11th. After driving it in the right rough there he pulled his approach into the water left of the green and the resultant double bogey saw him slip to two under for the tournament. That was the cut line at that point but when he three putted the next from long range he was 'on the outside looking in'. At the par five 13th Peter hit a great second to the par five and two putted for birdie and then birdied the par five 15th, this time after laying up with his second. At the notorious 16th he thrilled the massive crowds that station themselves around the green with a tee shot that finished six feet from the hole and when he made that he was at four under for the tournament and the cut was no longer an issue. He added another birde at the nearly driveable 17th and finished with a par to be at five under after a round of 68. Although not a particularly impressive day from the tee, Peter did putt well and built some forward momentum for the weekend.
