Peter is tied for 39th at the halfway mark at the AT&T National event in Maryland adding a second consecutive round of 70 to be at even par. Birdies at his final two holes on day one made today's task a litle easier but as Peter headed out with an afternoon tee time, he still needed a good solid round on the quality Congressional Country Club layout if he was to be around for the weekend . A three putt bogey at his opening hole today was clearly not the way he wanted to start but he would make up for it at the third with a monster putt for birdie from 60 feet. He then holed another lengthy putt for birdie at the 5th after finding the left rough but a bogey at the converted par five 6th after missing the green left had him back to even par for the day. A missed short putt at the 12th led to a bogey and he was dangerously close to the cutline but a birdie at the uphill par four 15th from 25 feet had him back at even par. Peter was unable to birdie the par five 16th but he safely parred the final two holes to be comfortably inside the cut mark of 2 over. |
