Peter has stormed into the halfway lead at the Australian PGA Championship after a second round of 65 moved him to 11 under and one shot clear of Paul Gow, Nathan Green, Wade Ormsby and the late finishign Rod Pampling.

Peter birdied his last four holes to move into the lead in an event he has won twice previously and with the level of enthusiasm he currently has in his game he can't wait for the weekend. 

"My putting has been the key although I am happy with the way I am striking the ball also. I had TaylorMade make me up a putter recently and it feels just great," said Peter after his round.

After a year sorting out equipment, schedules and tinkering with his swing, Peter appears to be closing in on his best form and it is encouraging to witness the enthusiasm he is displaying.

Peter won here in 2002 when sharing the title with Jarrod Moseley and again in 2004 when he headed James Nitties and Bob Estes after a brilliant last round burst.
