An opening round of three over par 75 has Peter well back after round one of the Memorial Tournament.
A pulled drive at the first started the round off on the wrong foot as he was forced to lay up and took bogey. He had realistic birdie chances at the next few holes but was unable to convert any. His second bogey came at the 6th when again he pulled his tee shot, this time into the left hand fairway bunker and with water short and left there was no option other than to lay up. At the par three 8th Peter hit his tee shot to five feet and recorded his first birdie of the day. At the 10th he missed the green left and took bogey and at the 13th he again pulled his tee shot for another bogey. At the dangerous 14th he drove it well but pulled his second slightly and caught the back left trap. It is a dangerous shot from there and in the end he made a good putt of 6 feet for bogey. The one last highlight of the day came at the tough 17th hole when, from 180 yards, he finished 6 feet from the hole and the subsequent birdie had him at three over which was where he would stay. Play was suspended in the late afternoon well after Peter had completed his opening round. photo Marc Feldman WireImage
