As Peter watched from the clubhouse on Wednesday afternoon prior to the the Barclays Classic at the Westchester Country Club, he was frustrated by the fact that he was unable to get onto the course to practice.
"It has rained here since I arrived from Ohio yesterday afternoon," said Peter after hitting balls in that rain on the driving range. "I haven't been able to get onto the course but I am told the rough is long and thick and the course very wet." It is a golf course that Peter has enjoyed playing in the past and one on which he has performed well. "I really like the style of the golf course and I am sorry that I have been unable to get out and get a feel for this conditions we will face tomorrow. I needed to work on my driving after last week's effort and spent some time on the range today trying out a few things in that regard. I feel like my iron play has been alright and my putting reasonable but my driving is letting me down." Peter missed out on a place at the US Open in Sectional Qualifying earlier in the week. "I was disappointed to miss but I was again struggling with the driver. The first of the two courses was very tight and I managed keep things together until late in the round where I made a couple of silly bogies. The in the second round on the other course I birdied the 8th, 9th and 12th to get to three under and so I felt if I could pick up a couple more I could sneak in. I picked up one more but also bogeyed one of the last few holes and so that was it."
The missed event next week will see Peter change his schedule a little over the next few weeks. "I will head back to Orlando next week and take two weeks off before playing in Hatford at the Buick Championship then I will play the Western then the British Open." |
