As Peter prepared for the Nationwide Tour's Soboba Championship in California this week he received a welcome boost with the announcement that he had been recognised by the PGA of Australia during its Centenary year.

“It is a great thrill for me, especially in such a significant year for the PGA, to have been acknowledged by an organisation which has meant so much to me during my years as a professional golfer," said Peter on receiving news of the recognition.

"Having started as a trainee professional, to the role as the Head Professional at the Oatlands Golf Club, to playing the game for a living, I have always felt a close bond with the PGA and am only too aware of what it has done for me and what it can do for others.

"To be recognised for my small contribution to the game is humbling and rewarding and I really appreciate the acknowledgement.

"I am only sorry that I was not be able to be in Sydney to receive the award at the NSW PGA Centenary dinner however I am striving to get things back on track in the latter part of the Nationwide Tour season.

"I also pass on my congratulations to my fellow recipients."

It was a case of more of the same for Peter this week at the Boise Open in Boise Idaho.

A slow start on Thursday, more especially two late bogeys, had him on the back foot and he struggled to make any ground from there.

Knowing he needed at least a 68 or perhaps even better on Friday he again started slowly, the overall result a 2 over par total for the 36 holes and a missed cut by five shots. 

 The ball striking wasn't bad but the putting was not up to standard and so as Peter looks ahead to this coming week's Soboba Golf Classic in California he knows what needs work on.

With now just six more events remaining this season the need for quick improvement is obvious.  

Peter has had a week off to recharge his batteries and he was grateful for the break. "To be honest as much as I hate to say it I was worn out," said Peter from the venue for this week's Boise Open in Idaho.

"I really didn't do a lot last week and just enjoyed a break after so many weeks on the road. Now it is a case of knuckling down to a stretch of tournaments through to what will hopefully be the Tour Championship. Clearly I need a few good results to get there but was happy enough overall with the way I was playing before last week despite the fact that I was missing cuts."

There are seven more events remaining on the 2011 Nationwide Tour schedule and currrently Peter is in 105th place on the money list. He clearly needs something special to threaten the top 25 but other money list milestones are important in terms of gaining access to the Final Stage of PGA Tour qualifying and guaranteeing himself full access again to the Nationwide Tour should he need it so the next few weeks are important.

Peter is guaranteed access to at least Stage Two of PGA Qualifying as a result of the number of cuts he has made during his PGA Tour career.

Peter is now back in Orlando after a seven week stretch of tournaments which brought mixed results. The Nationwide Tour has a break this week and Peter will be working hard on his game to have things on track for his return in ten days time.

The stretch of events was highlighted by his very good week at the Viking classic on the PGA Tour but that aside there has been little in the way of results to show for his efforts. 

Peter again missed the cut at the Mylan Classic but as has so often been the case this season his play was not as bad as his scoring has suggested. He again flirted with the cutline for much of his second round before two late bogeys cost him the chance of all important weekend play.

Peter will next play at the Boise Open in Idaho beginning on September 15th and with only seven more events remaining on the Nationwide Tour schedule he is only too aware of what is required over the closing stages of 2011.
